Abstract

This scoping review examines the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in speech therapy interventions for children with speech delays, focusing on tools and challenges within the Indonesian context. Various AI technologies, such as Internet of Things (IoT), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Augmented Reality (AR), are explored as solutions to enhance traditional speech therapy methods. The review identifies current AI applications in Indonesia, such as IoT-based smart dolls and AR-driven therapy platforms, and discusses their effectiveness in improving speech outcomes. However, challenges such as accessibility, lack of technical expertise, and data privacy concerns pose significant barriers to widespread implementation. Moreover, there is a lack of large-scale empirical studies assessing the long-term impacts of these AI-based interventions on children’s speech development. This review emphasizes the need for collaboration between healthcare providers, AI developers, and policymakers to develop cost-effective, scalable solutions that can be integrated into the Indonesian healthcare system. Future research should address the gaps in existing literature, focusing on the long-term efficacy, cost, and scalability of AI-driven speech therapy in resource-constrained environments.
