Abstract

Congklak is a traditional game that is played on a special board and has holes and seeds. The school environment is an important place in instilling positive character in students, one of which is by providing teaching materials based on traditional games, so that learning takes place more interestingly. The aim of this research is to explore the mathematics teaching materials contained in the traditional congklak game and analyze the role of congklak in strengthening student character at SMP Negeri 2 Dawarblandong, Mojokerto Regency. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative with test and interview methods. From the research results, it is known that the mathematics teaching materials that can be applied in the traditional congklak game are flat figures and number operations. Apart from that, mathematics learning based on the traditional congklak game is also very effective in strengthening students’ character, including the character of discipline, honesty, hard work and responsibility. Apart from character development, the use of traditional games is also able to provide more meaningful learning.
