Abstract

Despite the extensive studies conducted on factors affecting the career choice of learners, a notable dearth is documented on the factors influencing the enrolment decisions of learners considering their profile. This prompted this investigation to explore and understand the factors influencing the enrolment decisions of prospective enrollees of the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College – Cervantes Campus. This descriptive quantitative study surveyed 812 prospective enrollees from nearby senior high schools. The findings reveal a preference for board courses like teacher education, criminology, nursing, and engineering, with course choice influenced by skills, financial situation, interests, and family, unaffected by grade level or economic assistance. However, gender differences were noted. Learners favored institutions offering free tuition, scholarships, university status, dormitories, and nearby boarding houses. These insights suggest that course and institution choices are significantly influenced by various factors. Recommendations for ISPSC – Cervantes Campus include enhancing program visibility through community outreach and online engagement, such as a well-developed website. The campus may also expand its course offerings to meet high demand and continue efforts toward university status, quality certifications, accreditations, and international rankings to increase its appeal to prospective students.
