- Abstract
This paper explores transformative role of fintech in financial services, focusing on its applications and the risk management challenges it presents. It traces evolution of fintech from economic globalization, highlighting innovations such as crowdfunding, P2P lending, and mobile banking, which enhance financial inclusion and open new capital access avenues for SMEs. The essay also examines the role of regulatory bodies like the Financial Stability Board (FSB) in balancing innovation and systemic risk mitigation. The potential of blockchain to revolutionize data storage and its influence on cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and NFTs is discussed, along with the rise of robo-advisors that use AI to offer affordable, personalized investment strategies. The analysis also covers the convenience, security, and efficiency of online payment systems such as Alipay, PayPal, and Apple Pay, while addressing inefficiencies and regulatory gaps in P2P lending. The essay underscores the need to balance innovation with financial stability, with significant implications for institutions and regulators. As fintech continues to integrate with advanced technologies, it promises more accessible and secure financial services. However, proactive regulatory frameworks are essential to managing emerging risks and ensuring equitable benefits across sectors.
