- Abstract
The rapidly evolving employment landscape in contemporary Chinese society has imposed heightened demands on the social adaptability of university students. Concurrently, the prominent mental health issues among Chinese college students are compounded by a deficiency in the cultivation of social adaptability. Exploring novel cultivation pathways for enhancing university students’ social adaptability at the psychological level in the context of the new era has emerged as an urgent issue to be addressed. Through comprehensive literature integration, this paper analyzes the mechanisms by which positive psychology improves university students’ social adaptability and proposes implementation strategies for enhancing this capability. Positive psychology influences university students’ social adaptability through two chain-mediated effects. Firstly, through personal growth initiative and sense of meaning in life meaning stemming from family resilience. Secondly, by introducing two additional factors derived from self-compassion. Consequently, positive psychology offers practical intervention measures from individual, institutional, familial, and societal perspectives, demonstrating substantial educational potential within the university student population.
