- Abstract
Against the backdrop of increased state investment in technology enterprises and the burgeoning growth of the electronic communications sector, the exposure of financial malpractice at UniStrong – a leading enterprise in China’s satellite navigation field – has dealt a severe blow to investor confidence and undermined industry stability. This paper employs the GONE theory, combining literature review with case analysis, to examine UniStrong as a case study. It outlines the company’s fundamental circumstances and instances of fraud, analysing the motives and methods of fraudulent activity through the four dimensions of ‘greed’, ‘opportunity’, ‘need’, and ‘exposure’. This study not only enriches the body of case studies in industry fraud theory but also deepens our understanding of the motivations behind financial fraud and the mechanisms for its prevention. It can heighten investors’ risk awareness, encourage enterprises to enhance their governance and internal controls, and foster the healthy and orderly development of the market.
