Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to investigate whether perceptions of organizational justice significantly predict anxiety levels and general self-efficacy within the unique high-pressure context of an orchestra. Methods: A cross-sectional survey design was employed with 135 orchestra members. Instruments included Colquitt’s Organizational Justice Scale (2001), the State-Anxiety subscale of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), and the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES). Two separate linear regression models were used to test the predictive power of justice perceptions on anxiety and self-efficacy. Results: Correlation analysis revealed that organizational justice perceptions were significantly negatively correlated with anxiety (r = -.944, p < .001) and significantly positively correlated with self-efficacy (r = .943, p < .001). Regression analyses showed that justice perceptions significantly negatively predicted anxiety (β = -.944, p < .001), and significantly positively predicted self-efficacy (β = .943, p < .001). Conclusion: In the orchestra environment, perceptions of organizational justice are a core factor influencing members’ mental health (anxiety) and motivational beliefs (self-efficacy). Enhancing procedural, distributive, interpersonal, and informational justice may be key to promoting the psychological well-being and artistic performance of orchestra musicians.
