- Abstract
This paper discusses the changes in journalism in the age of smart media and the application and risk governance of new quality productivity in it. With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, 5G communication, blockchain and other innovative technologies, journalism is undergoing profound changes. New quality productivity optimizes the allocation of production factors through technology and promotes the structural change of the news industry, characterized by digitalization, intelligence and green. In news production, the deep embedding of the digital tool chain, such as AI-assisted writing and big data intelligent analysis, has significantly improved the efficiency of news gathering and editing and expanded the dimension of reporting. However, the application of new quality productivity has also brought about mediatization risks, such as the asynchronous nature of institutional adaptation, the alienation of algorithmic power, and the out-of-control nature of communication ecology. These risks pose challenges to the public value of journalism. To cope with these risks, this article proposes the establishment of a governance matrix for the co-evolution of technological research and development, ethical review, and legal regulation to achieve a dynamic balance between technological innovation and risk prevention and control. At the same time, the article also analyzes the industry value of new quality productivity in the application of journalism and points out its potential risks. In the future, under the premise of adhering to the essence of journalism, the journalism industry needs to construct a framework for human-machine synergy and improve ethical norms, so that the new quality productivity can truly become the core kinetic energy to promote the in-depth transformation of the media.
