Abstract

With its emphasis on breaking down disciplinary barriers and promoting interdisciplinary integration, the idea of “New Liberal Arts” is gaining traction in China's higher education system. This has given rise to new theoretical perspectives for innovating and reforming dance education while also offering a powerful push for its advancement. In the framework of the New Liberal Arts era, this essay analyzes the issues with the current methods for cultivating dance talent and offers ways to improve them. The primary research focuses on addressing the transdisciplinary and integrative trends encouraged by the “New Liberal Arts”, in addition to taking into account potential issues with traditional dance education, such as excessively rigid disciplinary boundaries and monolithic knowledge structures. It also aims to create a new paradigm for developing multi-tiered, composite dance talent that can satisfy the demands of society in the future.
