Website: https://ichss.um.ac.id/ The 5th International Conference on Humanities and Social Science (ICHSS 2024) “Marginalization Processes and Marginal Groups in Southeast Asia” We are delighted to present the proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Humanities and Social Science (ICHSS 2024), held under the theme “Marginalization Processes and Marginal Groups in Southeast Asia.” This conference serves as a vibrant platform for scholars, researchers, and practitioners from across the globe to engage in meaningful discussions on one of the most pressing issues faced by the Southeast Asian region: the dynamics of marginalization and its impact on diverse communities. The ICHSS 2024 has been made possible through the collaborative efforts of Universitas Negeri Malang, Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN), the Center for Culture and Frontier Studies at Universitas Brawijaya, the Southeast Asia Research Centre and Hub at De La Salle University Manila, Pangasinan State University, and Atlantis Press as our publishing partner. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to fostering dialogue, advancing research, and advocating for the empowerment of marginalized groups across Southeast Asia. The theme of this year’s conference is both timely and significant.Marginalization, in its many forms—social, economic, and political—continues to hinder equitable growth and development in our societies. The research and discussions presented here aim to shed light on the intricate processes that perpetuate these inequalities and explore actionable strategies for fostering inclusion and empowerment. As reflected in the diverse contributions within these proceedings, Southeast Asia offers a unique and complex context for examining marginalization. The region’s rich cultural, linguistic, and historical diversity provides invaluable insights into both the challenges faced by marginalized groups and their remarkable resilience. By bringing these issues to the forefront,we hope to contribute to a broader understanding and inspire collaborative solutions. We extend our deepest gratitude to all participants, contributors, organizing committees, and Atlantis Press for their publishing support, whose dedication and hard work have made this event a success. May the ideas and findings shared in this conference inspire meaningful action and further scholarship in the pursuit of social justice, equity, and inclusivity. On behalf of Universitas Negeri Malang and our esteemed partners, we thank you for your participation and look forward to continuing this vital dialogue. Ahmad Munjin Nasih
