- Abstract
This research discusses the role of law enforcement in dealing with money laundering related to environmental crimes in Indonesia. Environmental crimes are often used as the main source of money laundering by various groups, from the general public to influential officers and officials. The method used in this research is doctrinal research, which examines legislation and related policy documents, as well as jurisprudential analysis to gain an in-depth understanding of the current application of law. The research results show that even though Indonesia has a relatively complete legal framework in the form of Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management and Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning Prevention and Eradication of the Crime of Money Laundering, there are still significant challenges in implementation. the law is effective. Law enforcement is often hampered by a lack of coordination between agencies and the need to increase the capacity of law enforcement officials. Based on these findings, the proposed recommendations include increasing cooperation and coordination between PPATK, police, prosecutors and the Corruption Eradication Commission. In addition, intensive training for law enforcement officers is needed to increase their understanding of the legal and technical aspects of money laundering. It is hoped that this effort can strengthen law enforcement and prevent money laundering practices that are detrimental to the environment and the country’s economy.
