- Abstract
With the spread of information technology in the financial sector, fintech emerges at the historic moment and develops rapidly. For energy-intensive manufacturing companies, this is a new opportunity. Based on the acquired data of Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share energy-intensive manufacturing listed companies and fintech data of prefecture-level cities from 2012 to 2021, this paper conducts a study. Then, through the regression analysis of panel data, there is a conclusion that fintech can significantly promote the growth of total factor productivity in energy-intensive manufacturing enterprises. Further mechanism analysis shows that fintech can improve the TFP of energy-intensive manufacturing enterprises by improving the level of technological innovation and alleviating financing constraints. Finally, based on the above empirical conclusions, suggestions are put forward for the upgrading and transformation of high energy consuming manufacturing enterprises under the trend of continuous development of fintech.
