- Abstract
Japan commenced investigating countermeasures against the population aging in the 1950s. It is proactive in adopting diverse measures to cope with the care issues pertaining to the older population. Prominent effects have been achieved by establishing community-based integrated care systems that incorporate residing, medical care, long-term care, prevention, and living assistance with people-centered services across multiple domains, levels, and categories as the core. To this end, this paper takes Japan as the case example and elucidates its community-based integrated care systems. In tandem with the current status of Meizhou, Guangdong Province, known as the “Longevity City of the World,” this study reveals the enlightenment of Japan’s community-based integrated care system on Meizhou in developing home- and community-based elderly care service systems. There are four measurements we can learn from. It is manifested as the necessity to improve the safeguard mechanism of rules and regulations, integrate and optimize diverse service resources, develop standardized care training systems, and catalyze information technology and intelligent construction.
