Abstract

Entrepreneurship mentors play a crucial role in the current entrepreneurial ecosystem, and their expertise and experience are vital to the success of entrepreneurs. The aim of this study is to conduct a competency evaluation of entrepreneurship mentors based on the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, which provides insights into the key role of entrepreneurship mentors in the entrepreneurial process. Through the literature review, we define the roles and competencies of entrepreneurship mentors and summarise the shortcomings of existing entrepreneurship mentor evaluation studies. In constructing the model framework, we explicitly define three main dimensions of entrepreneurship mentor competencies: knowledge skills, communication and interpersonal relationships, and mentoring and coaching. Using the AHP method, we established the corresponding hierarchical structure, constructed the evaluation model of entrepreneurship mentor competence through the determination of weights, and conducted a consistency test on its weight setting. Finally, this paper has sorted out the limitations of this study and made suggestions for future research. The results of this study have certain theoretical and practical significance for entrepreneurship education. On the one hand, it provides a scientific and reasonable method for the ability evaluation of entrepreneurship tutors; on the other hand, it also provides a useful reference for the reform and development of entrepreneurship education.
