Abstract

In the 21st century, the rapid advancement of information technology has profoundly transformed the field of education, particularly in foreign language teaching. This paper explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technology into college English teaching, examining both its practical applications and the challenges it presents. AI tools, such as DeepSeek, offer personalized learning experiences by tailoring content to individual student needs, providing real-time feedback, and enhancing teaching resources through the integration of multimedia and interactive materials. These innovations have the potential to revolutionize traditional teaching models by making education more flexible and adaptive.

However, the widespread use of AI in education also raises significant concerns. Over-reliance on AI tools may undermine students’ fundamental language skills and interpersonal communication abilities. Additionally, data security and ethical issues, such as potential biases in AI outputs and the privacy of student information, pose substantial challenges for educators. This paper argues that while AI provides unprecedented opportunities for enhancing language learning, it is crucial to balance its use with traditional teaching methods to ensure a comprehensive educational experience. Educators must critically evaluate AI tools, safeguard student data, and foster critical thinking to mitigate potential risks. By integrating AI thoughtfully into the teaching system, it is possible to create a more effective and engaging learning environment that prepares students for the demands of the digital age.
