Abstract

The contemporary study examined the banks participation on India’s UPI and IMPS services during the period from 2016-17 to 2025-26, focusing on their complementary nature in India’s digital payment system. The research design has been empirical in nature by using secondary data. Statistical assumptions such as Pearson Correlation and Linear Regression equation modelling have been used in this study to analyse the interrelationships among bank participation, transaction amount and volume. Findings of the study signify that there is strong positive correlation among the variables and there is significant effect of bank participation with volume and value of transactions in which the null statements were rejected in UPI and IMPS conditions. The study concludes, that UPI leads in the growth of more volume and small amount of retail transactions but IMPS continued to sustain the stabilized growth with support of high-value settlements.
