- Abstract
Entrepreneurship has emerged as a significant source of economic development, innovation, job creation, and sustainability of businesses in developed and emerging economies. Nevertheless, not all entrepreneurs can succeed in their ventures because of financial limitations, lack of motivation and poor technological skills to succeed in the business which is known as Entrepreneurial Success (ES). Over the last few years, researchers have begun to acknowledge the fact that ES is determined by a set of interconnected factors, instead of one. Among them, finance (FIN), Motivation (MOT) and Technological Adoption (TA) have become one of the most important variables that influence entrepreneurial outcomes. The current research will establish a conceptual framework that will describe the role of FIN, MOT, and TA on ES. The Chapter also looks at the moderating effect of MOT in enhancing the relationship between FIN and ES and TA and ES. Though these variables have been discussed separately in previous studies, few studies have combined them into one model. Thus, the current study fills a significant gap in the literature related to entrepreneurship as it offers an in-depth framework that would represent the interplay of financial capability, entrepreneurial motivation, and technological readiness. The research is conceptual and is developed on the basis of the systematic review of around 30 scholarly works published in 2010-2026. Secondary data were gathered using peer-reviewed journal articles, books, edited volumes and conference publications that were indexed in the respectable databases like Scopus, Web of Science, Springer, Routledge, Frontiers and Cogent. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the reviewed studies and categorized into four broad themes, which included Entrepreneurial Success, Finance, Motivation and Technological Adoption. The results of the review show that FIN plays a significant role in ES as it helps entrepreneurs to access resources, invest to develop their business, embrace innovation, and maintain growth on a long-term basis. MOT is also identified to be very crucial as motivated entrepreneurs have been shown to be more persistent, resilient, committed and risk takers. TA also enhances ES by boosting operational efficiency, customer engagement, and digital connectivity, as well as competitiveness in the market. The review also indicates that MOT is a strengthening factor since more motivated entrepreneurs are likely to be more efficient in their use of financial resources and are more likely to use technology. The research adds to the literature on entrepreneurship as it incorporates the Resource-Based View (RBV), Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and Achievement Motivation Theory into a single conceptual framework. The model proposed gives a more detailed interpretation of ES and emphasizes the necessity to study financial ability, motivation, and technology adoption as a unit and not individually. The research also has practical implications to the policymakers, financial institutions, educators and business support organizations. The necessary actions aimed at enhancing entrepreneurial performance would be related to enhancing access to finance, entrepreneurial motivation, and promoting the use of digital technology by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). In the future, the proposed framework can be empirically tested with the help of the quantitative methods, including structural equation modeling, regression analysis, or partial least squares analysis.
