Abstract

One well-known computer vision algorithm that makes applications like surveillance and driverless cars possible is object detection. This study introduces an OpenCV-based real-time item tracking and detection system based on the MobileNet SSD model. It has a tracking module for ongoing tracking and makes use of a pre-trained MobileNet SSD model to identify numerous objects in live video. We use a Deep Neural Network (DNN) for effective CPU and GPU processing to increase accuracy. For real-time surveillance, the system has dynamic tracking and great precision. In addition, we assess vehicle speeds and set off over speeding alerts. When a car exceeds the speed limit, an inbuilt number plate recognition module detects it and provides useful information for traffic monitoring. At the expense of tracking efficiency, frame-by-frame processing with optimal confidence criteria reduces false positives. We test the accuracy of our model in many scenarios, proving its suitability for real-time applications including warnings, traffic monitoring, and security. Even on low-resource systems, the results demonstrate high-speed processing with reliable precision.
