Abstract

The integration of mindfulness and yoga practices has emerged as an effective nonpharmacological approach to reducing anxiety and fatigue among university students. With increasing mental health concerns in academic settings, these mind-body practices offer promising benefits. This research aimed to examine the impact of mindfulness and yoga on psychological well-being and evaluate two fatigue-reduction interventions and their influence on sports competition anxiety. A mixed-methods design was used, incorporating intervention protocols, standardized questionnaires, and thematic analyses. A 3 (Group: Control, Experimental1, Experimental2) × 2 (Gender: Male, Female) × 2 (Time: Pre-Post, Post-Test) repeated measures ANOVA was conducted on a sample of 310 participants to assess fatigue and anxiety outcomes. Findings revealed significant reductions in anxiety and perceived stress following combined yoga and mindfulness programs, along with improvements in emotional regulation, resilience, and sleep quality. A significant main effect of time indicated overall decreases in fatigue, with Experimental Group1 showing the greatest improvement, followed by Experimental Group2, while the control group showed minimal change. Females in Experimental Group1 demonstrated slightly greater improvement. A similar pattern was observed in sports competition anxiety, with Experimental Group1 showing the largest reductions and Experimental Group2 demonstrating significant improvement compared to the control group. Yoga and mindfulness interventions demonstrated sustained and meaningful improvements in anxiety, fatigue, and emotional well-being. The findings highlight the relevance of integrating tailored, long-term mindfulness-based programs in university mental health curricula.
