- Abstract
The rapid growth of Internet of Things (IoT) devices in women's safety applications has led to an unprecedented surge in data generation. Managing and processing this data efficiently while ensuring real-time response in emergencies remains a significant challenge. This paper introduces VigilNet, a multi-layered IoT-based safety framework integrating an Adaptive Context-Based Lossless Data Compression (ACLDC) module. VigilNet comprises an IoT Sensing Layer that collects real-time safety data using wearable sensors, GPS trackers, and biometric devices; an Edge Computing Layer for preliminary data processing; and an Adaptive Compression Module for optimizing data transmission based on priority levels. The compressed data is securely transmitted and stored in the cloud, enabling rapid emergency response and forensic analysis. Experimental results demonstrate that the ACLDC module significantly reduces data size without compromising critical information, ensuring efficient bandwidth utilization and real-time responsiveness. This research highlights the potential of adaptive compression in enhancing IoT-enabled safety solutions.
