- Abstract
Against the backdrop of rapid urban cultural development, revitalizing urban heritage faces multidimensional challenges. This paper explores innovative design strategies for urban visual heritage within the framework of cultural perception theory. It first elucidates the origins of cultural perception demands and their guiding role in heritage revitalization, clarifying the concept and characteristics of urban visual heritage. Subsequently, using the Zhengzhou Shang City Ruins as a case study, it analyzes the current status and challenges in its preservation and revitalization. Based on existing issues, the study proposes a tiered cultural perception pathway—“Recognition-Experience-Empathy” —where the three-tiered cognitive structure corresponds to three visual perception modes: informational graphics, participatory interaction, and trans-temporal/spatial narratives. This framework derives three visual language translations, ultimately forming a visual strategy centered on cultural perception. This research provides theoretical references and innovative design solutions for the cultural inheritance of urban visual heritage.
