- Abstract
The growth of e-commerce in Indonesia has opened up huge opportunities for digital economic growth. However, it has also created legal challenges, especially in terms of quick and efficient dispute resolution. The high number of consumer complaints shows that the public does not really trust online transaction systems. This article examines the legal framework in e-commerce transactions and proposes an ideal dispute resolution concept with a legal approach that is responsive to technological advancements. The author highlights the importance of electronic trials as a modern solution to justice issues hindered by conventional mechanisms. However, the current e-court system has weaknesses in resolving e-commerce disputes, as the anonymous identity and unclear domicile of e-commerce merchants hinder consumers from filing lawsuits. Therefore, consumer protection approaches must provide information about the identity of e-commerce merchants. Using a normative approach through literature review and legal regulations, this paper recommends legal system reforms to support simple, swift, and fair e-commerce dispute resolution.
