Abstract

Huta Ginjang Dolok is one of the villages in Baktiraja District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra. Huta Ginjang Dolok as the name implies, is located on a high plateau but quite close to Lake Toba. Through excavation methods in archaeological studies, this former early settlement shows interesting data in the form of findings of human skeletons which is one of the proofs that this location was once inhabited by humans. The interesting thing is that it seems that this location was not only used as a residence once, but at least twice. This can be seen from the houses that stand on the finds of skeletons and other cultural objects that have been buried in the ground. In the excavation the human skeletons were found in an unnatural position, suggesting that a group of humans who inhabited or came to the place died due to unnatural causes. It is possible that it is caused by a natural disaster event. Until now, this area is a disaster-prone area. Huta Ginjang Dolok is an example of how humans in the past adapted to natural conditions that were prone to the safety of human life.
