Abstract

This study examines the transformative landscape of visual communication design in the digital age, focusing on narrative-driven immersive experience design supported by digital technologies such as VR and AR. The research develops a tripartite theoretical model encompassing “Visual Communication Narrative Framework—Digital Media Technology Support—Interactive Participatory Creation.” It analyzes the narrative essence of visual communication, the composition of its framework, and the design dimensions of immersive experiences. Furthermore, it proposes coding strategies for visual communication narrative frameworks, hierarchical spatial design approaches, and digital media-driven interactive participatory creation methodologies. Concurrently, the study identifies ethical and user experience challenges in immersive experience design, including sensory overload, narrative hegemony, and data privacy. It advocates for a future paradigm shift in immersive experience design from mere “experience” to “symbiosis,” emphasizing the need to balance technological innovation with user experience and cultivate an open, pluralistic narrative ecosystem.
