Abstract

Having good career opportunities in the tourism sector is the main motivation for undergraduate students studying tourism. Students’ perceptions of the benefits of the curriculum will influence their perceptions of its value. Studies in the tourism literature emphasize that the educational motivations, expectations, and perceptions of students studying tourism play a significant role in their career intentions after graduation. This study aims to reveal the impact of the motivations, expectations, and perceptions of tourism education on the career intentions of undergraduate students studying tourism in the Faculty of Tourism. A total of 394 students participated in the survey. The relationships between these four variables and the data on these variables according to demographic variables were tested with SPSS. The results of the research indicate that the motivations, expectations, and perceptions of tourism education have a significantly positive impact on future career intentions and that there are significant differences in the values of the scale variables according to some demographic variables. The findings are expected to make significant contributions to the tourism education literature.
