- Abstract
This study investigates how specific Human Resource Management (HRM) practices—namely training, career development, performance management, and reward systems—affect employee motivation and job performance in Zimbabwe’s banking sector. Utilizing a quantitative approach, data were collected from 384 respondents and analyzed through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS software. The analysis confirmed that training, career development, and performance management significantly enhanced job performance, both directly and through the mediating role of motivation. However, reward systems showed a weaker direct impact on performance. This study provides practical insights for HR practitioners and policymakers in developing strategic interventions tailored to the banking industry. Limitations include the use of non-probability sampling and industry-specific focus, suggesting future research should explore other sectors and comparative contexts.
