Abstract

This paper presents the design and development of a Flutter-based chatbot application tailored for CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine operators in the manufacturing industry. Developed in collaboration with an industrial sponsor, the system integrates IoT-driven telemetry data collection with real-time analytics to enhance operational efficiency. The architecture leverages Apache Kafka for data streaming, PostgreSQL for structured storage, and Hasura’s GraphQL engine for seamless backend interaction. Data pipelines are orchestrated using Apache Airflow to process and transform critical CNC metrics such as spindle speed, feed rate, and alarm statuses. A large language model refines user queries and contextualizes responses, enhancing chatbot accuracy. The chatbot, accessible via a user-friendly Flutter interface, supports multimodal interaction, allowing operators to retrieve machine performance insights through text-based queries and speech-based input queries. By providing real-time analytics and predictive insights, the system empowers operators to optimize machine performance, reduce downtime, and streamline production workflows. This innovative approach contributes to intelligent manufacturing through automation and data-driven decision-making.
