Abstract

In recent years, digital economy has become a crucial driver of rural industrial development and transformation. This study investigates the interaction mechanism among digital platforms, factor flow, and rural industrial integration in China, particularly under the context of China-US trade dynamics. Using panel data from 30 Chinese provinces during 2013-2020, we construct an intermediary effect model to examine both direct and indirect effects of digital platforms on rural industrial integration. Our findings reveal three key insights: First, digital platforms significantly promote rural industrial integration both directly and through the intermediary role of factor flow, with the intermediary effect accounting for 33.73% of the total effect. Second, the intermediary effect demonstrates regional heterogeneity, being more prominent in western regions compared to eastern and central regions. Third, the effectiveness of factor flow mediation varies across different stages of economic development. Under the backdrop of China-US trade frictions, digital platforms have emerged as a strategic tool for enhancing rural industrial competitiveness and resilience. This study contributes to both theoretical understanding of rural digital transformation and practical implementation of rural revitalization strategies.
