- Abstract
The focus of this research is to create a game that can help teenagers who are troubled by depression. Our idea is to create a game that can enhance players’ emotions and make them feel better by combining dialogue with certain intellectual and gameplay elements. Imagine having a friend who contacts you every day, a friend with whom you can talk and interact. This is the goal of this game. When you do well, your mood starts to improve, and the game will also reward you. This study investigated 60 college students, who were divided into two groups; One group is the experimental group, and the other is the control group. The entire process lasted for four weeks. The result was that the depressive symptoms of the students in the experimental group were significantly alleviated, while no significant changes were observed in the control group. This proves that our Emotional Courage Game system is a simple and affordable way to help young people deal with depression.
