Abstract

This paper explores the transformative impact of cutting-edge computer technologies—including artificial intelligence (AI), augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), generative design, real-time rendering, digital twins, and blockchain—on visual communication design within the digital cultural tourism sector. As the cultural tourism economy evolves under digitalization, traditional design paradigms are being reshaped by computational tools that enhance interactivity, immersion, and personalization. This study examines how these technologies facilitate the integration of regional cultural elements into dynamic, multi-sensory user experiences, thereby optimizing both cultural dissemination and educational outcomes. We detail the methodological integration of AI-driven design generation, AR/VR-based immersive storytelling, and blockchain-based cultural IP management, highlighting their applications in real-world cultural tourism settings. By adopting a technology-centered approach, this research proposes a renewed framework for visual communication design that prioritizes computational creativity, interdisciplinary collaboration, and user-centric experiential design. The findings underscore the essential role of computer technologies in advancing the field, suggesting pathways for curriculum modernization and industry innovation in the era of smart tourism.
