Abstract

This study aims to analyze the capital market anomalies in the stock market resulting from investor decision-making during a trading halt that occurred in January 2026. Without intending to formally test the causal relationships, the authors adopt an event-based descriptive approach with secondary data sourced from Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This research focuses on the IDX Composite (IHSG) and daily transaction value followed by an analysis within a window of D-7 and D+6. The analysis compares daily transaction value between days with shocks and without shocks, then evaluates whether the abnormalities observed during trading halt represent a structured shift or only a temporary effect. The test results indicate no statistically significant difference in means between days with shock and without shock over the short horizon, however, the findings suggest a tendency for rapid changes and spikes in transaction value when shocks occur. This study focuses on Indonesia to specifically analyze how abnormal market conditions can increase risks while simultaneously providing opportunities for positive returns for investors in Indonesia.
