Abstract

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in keeping the economy afloat in the region particularly in those regions that depend on the commodity such as Bangka Belitung. Although the institutional spread of Islamic banking has occurred, there is a comparatively low level of use of Islamic financing by the MSME actors. The research at hand will study the perception and the utilization of Islamic financing by MSMEs in Bangka Belitung. The qualitative method was a descriptive one that used primary data that was gathered using questionnaires to 25 respondents who were involved in different business activities. The results show that 22 respondents know about the existence of Islamic financing products, but 15 respondents never accessed the Islamic bank financing. Meanwhile, 23 respondents save to ensure capital rotation of their business and 13 respondents consider Islamic financing very useful in development of MSME. The paper concludes that the awareness rates are rather high, yet the actual application remains low because of informational barriers and reasons associated with the level of confidence.
