Abstract

Diorama Nusantara was built based on the idea that national insight must be preserved as an effective learning tool in introducing Indonesian cultural values, such as cultural diversity, language, and religion, to the community. The purpose of this study is to examine the documents in Diorama Nusantara through the lens of three aspects of the complementary theory of documents. Qualitative research methods were employed as the approach for this study. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews with research informants who are employees of Diorama Nusantara management. Data analysis was carried out using thematic analysis. The results of this study indicate that Diorama Nusantara has three main aspects, namely technical aspects, social aspects, and mental aspects. The technical aspect manifests through elements such as archive exhibitions (wall displays), libraries (digital books), museums (replicas of inscriptions), art, and technology. Strategic efforts to raise public awareness about the preservation of cultural heritage and historical archives of the archipelago demonstrate the social aspect. Meanwhile, the mental aspect is realised through collaboration between galleries, libraries, archives, and museums that allow for the presentation of more comprehensive information for the public so that the available sources of information not only function as documents of the past but also as sources of inspiration and national identity in the present.
