Abstract

One of the important elements of sustainable city infrastructure is pedestrian paths that connects the streets, parks, buildings, and activity centers. The A. Yani – Raya Tebel Street, Gedangan, Sidoarjo, has a strategic role in supporting community mobility in local urban areas and to travel from Sidoarjo to Surabaya. Therefore, the existence of this street is very important to ensure the safety and comfort not only for motorized vehicle user but also for non-motorized vehicle especially the pedestrian. However, the existing condition in the A. Yani – Raya Tebel Street is facing complex problems such as lack of pedestrian infrastructure and low walkability. Based on these problems, this study aims to determine the improvement strategies that need to be carried out based on the green street concept and Global Walkability Index (GWI). To systematically evaluate and prioritize these strategies formulated through the QSPM analysis are related to improving path geometry and connectivity, providing supporting facilities, enhancing landscaping, increasing security and safety, and maintaining effective governance to ultimately to boost the walkability, comfort, and safety of pedestrian paths. There are three strategies priority to increase the level of walkability, comfort, and safety of pedestrian paths in the study area.
