Abstract

Adolescents represent a strategic group in the development of human resources; however, their nutritional status in Bontang City continues to face significant challenges. Although administrative achievements such as Child Identity Card (CIC) ownership reached 82.4% by 2025, health data reveal that 27% of adolescent girls experience anemia, 18% have a body mass index (BMI) below the standard, and mild stunting cases persist among those aged 12–15 years. This article examines the nutritional implications for adolescents from educational, social, legal, and public health perspectives, employing a mixed-methods approach. The findings suggest that nutrition is directly linked to academic performance, mental health, and social participation among adolescents. The legal analysis identifies a regulatory gap, as the Bontang Child-Friendly City (CFC) Regional Regulation does not include adolescent nutrition indicators. Therefore, a regulatory revision and multisectoral synergy among families, schools, industries, and local governments are urgently required to ensure that Bontang’s youth grow healthy, intelligent, and competitive, aligning with the goals of sustainable development.
