Abstract

The phenomenon of declining attitudes of mutual respect, honour, and low social awareness among elementary school students remains a challenge that must be addressed. This study aims to analyse the influence of Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach and Pancasila Student Profile character on the social attitudes of elementary school students. The research method is quantitative descriptive with a survey design. The research sample was 42: phase A students from School Cluster 2, Klakah District, Lumajang Regency, selected through a random sampling technique. Instrument validation was applied with expert testing and validity testing, while data analysis included classical assumption tests, simple regression, and path analysis. The research results explains CRT approach has a positive but low correlation with student character (R = 0.093; R2 = 0.009) and a weak negative correlation with social attitudes (R = 0.047; R2 = 0.002). In contrast, the Pancasila Student Profile character significantly influenced students’ social attitudes (R = 0.789; R2 = 0.622; p < 0.05). Simultaneously, the CRT approach and the Pancasila Student Profile character together significantly influenced students’ social attitudes (R = 0.789; R2 = 0.623; p < 0.05). The conclusion of this study confirms that formation of elementary school students’ social attitudes is more effective when strengthening the values of the Pancasila Student Profile, such as cooperation, tolerance, and respect. CRT approach has potential as a culture-based, inclusive learning strategy, but its implementation remains suboptimal. Therefore, a stronger integration between culture-based pedagogical approaches and character education is needed to shape sustainable social attitudes.
