Abstract

The problem of this research based on the phenomenon of bullying which still frequently occurs in elementary school environments and can impact students’ social skills development. This research aims to determine the effect of bullying on social skills in elementary school students. This research used a quantitative approach with an ex-post-facto method through a questionnaire distributed to upper-grade students in SDN Kepatihan 03 Jember. Of the 86 respondents, 30 students who met the criteria for bullying victims were analyzed. The research instrument consisted of two variables: bullying as the independent variable and social skills as the dependent variable. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed a significant influence between bullying and social skills, with a significance value of 0.031 (p < 0.05) and a coefficient of determination of 15.6%. This indicates that bullying contributes 15.6% to students’ social skills. Therefore, schools need to create a safe and conducive environment to prevent bullying and support the development of students’ social skills through a participatory and empathetic educational approach.
