Motorcycle Equivalent Value Using Occupancy Time Method and Speed Method at Unsignalized Intersection in Palu City

Abstract

Intersections are public areas where two or more road lanes cross and may experience disagreements or conflicts. Based on observations, the W. Monginsidi street - Tg Manimbaya street intersection is one of the unsignalized intersections that often experiences conflicts when vehicles turn, especially during peak hour periods, causing the speed to decrease and take a longer time. The purpose of this research is to determine the Equivalent value of motorcycles with the occupancy time method.

The technique of taking pictures using a smartphone camera equipped with a tripod and carried out on Monday and data collection was carried out in the morning at 06.30-08.30 am, afternoon at 11.00 am-01.00 pm, and afternoon at 4.00-6.00 pm. includes traffic volume data, travel time and vehicle speed, then analyzed by the occupancy time method and speed method. he results of the analysis with the occupancy time method obtained the Equivalent value of the motorcycle is 0.37,while the speed method obtained the Equivalent value of the motorcycle is 0.22 with a lower percentage level of the speed method compared to the occupancy time method, which is 59.46%. So the comparison of the PCU values of the two methods is smaller than the MKJI PCU value for motorcycles which is 0.5.
