- Abstract
The Progressive Era was a pivotal period in American history, especially in the realm of child welfare. With the rapid industrialization, children’s living conditions in New York City deteriorated significantly, and issues related to child labor, health, and education became increasingly severe. The growing societal concern over these problems led to a series of reforms, particularly in child labor protection, compulsory education, and public health services. New York City became a hub of reform, driving legislation and policies that not only influenced other American cities but also sparked international attention and responses regarding children’s rights. Through these reforms, Progressives sought to create a fairer environment for children, laying the foundation for modern child rights protection.
