Abstract

As treasures of two ancient civilizations, ancient Greek pottery and Chinese pottery and lacquerware each reflect their unique artistic qualities and cultural connotations. The beauty of ancient Greek pottery stems from its extremely high level of craftsmanship and the fine molding of the figures, while Chinese pottery and lacquerware from the same period are famous for their outstanding shape design and emotive decorative expression. Both of them have an important position in the history of world art. There are many similarities and differences between ancient Greek pottery and Chinese pottery and lacquerware. This article will explore the stylistic changes of pottery in the different periods of ancient Greece in terms of shape, ornamentation, colors, and production techniques, as well as their relation to social factors, in order to deepen the understanding of ancient Greek and Chinese culture in terms of artistic expression, meanwhile the knowledge of the history and culture of the two places, and enrich the knowledge of the diversity of global art and culture and cultural exchange.
