Abstract

The advancement of technology increasingly demands that workers possess 21st-century skills, namely collaboration, communication, creative thinking, and critical thinking. In response to the growing need for soft skill development, Politeknik Negeri Bali must enhance the quality of its graduates to remain competitive at the global level. Notably, it was found that one lecturer has implemented the LOGSELF learning model to elevate critical thinking skills in English for the Tour Operations class. The LOGSELF learning model is divided into a sequence of seven learning activities, including linking, gathering information, gathering ideas, synthesizing, exhibiting, learning, and collecting feedback. This learning model combines case-based learning with online news as a learning medium. This current study aims to identify the implementation of the LOGSELF learning model to elevate critical thinking skills. This research employs a case study design with 27 ESP students as participants. The data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and interviews, and analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the LOGSELF learning model has already incorporated activities to enhance critical thinking skills. The majority of students agreed that the LOGSELF learning model helps them elevate their critical thinking, especially in finding innovative and implementable solutions to overcome future tourism problems.
