- Abstract
The shift of conventional event into hybrid mode results in a new approach to communication, particularly in English. Therefore, there is a need for how to integrate the internet and technology into vocational teaching and learning activities to enhance students’ capacity in English communication in the hybrid era. The current study sought to gather students’ perspectives on the use of internet-based learning media during teaching and learning activities for English for tourism and event. The current study employed explanatory mixed-methods research, involving three steps of data collection: observation, questionnaire distribution, and interviews with 28 ESP students. The gathered data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and qualitative data analysis, including data condensation, data display, and concluding. The result of the current study revealed three major findings, including (1) the internet-based learning media helped the students to practice their language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing; (2) the internet-based learning media provided the students new vocabularies which is related to the event and provided the examples of accurate pronunciation to help the students articulate the English words; (3) the internet-based learning media engaged and motivated the students to learn better, and allowed them to have their self-regulated learning by tracking their own learning pace. Therefore, the internet-based learning media should be provided in the classroom.
