- Abstract
Tourism serves as the primary economic driver in Bali Province, yet its rapid growth exerts considerable pressure on the environment, infrastructure, and local communities. This study analyzes the potential application of Green Artificial Intelligence (Green AI) as an innovative solution to foster sustainability in Bali’s tour and travel industry. Green AI refers to the environmentally friendly and energy-efficient application of artificial intelligence aimed at reducing ecological impacts. Adopting a qualitative approach through systematic literature review and stakeholder interviews, this research identifies key Green AI applications—low-emission route optimization, AI-based waste management, real-time overtourism control, and energy efficiency in the accommodation sector. Findings indicate that Green AI integration can significantly reduce carbon footprints, enhance operational efficiency, and support sustainable decision-making among tourism stakeholders. Nevertheless, challenges such as limited data availability, uneven digital infrastructure, and low technological awareness remain. The study recommends collaborative efforts between government, industry, and the technology sector to establish an AI-driven green tourism ecosystem in Bali, positioning Green AI as a foundation for developing smart, sustainable, and inclusive tourism.
