Abstract

This study examines the use of a pocket book as an effective, integrative, and innovative learning medium for Balinese language, culture, and arts among Darmasiswa program students. The pocket book includes Indonesian language materials covering linguistic elements such as comprehension, sentence structure, and grammar. It integrates activities targeting four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Simple everyday conversations in various contexts, including campus, market, government, hospital, tourist, and cultural settings, are also presented. Additionally, cultural content is delivered interactively through digital media accessible via QR codes, including images, audio, and videos. This research employs the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, documentation, questionnaires, content analysis, and prototype testing involving Darmasiswa students. The results show that the pocket book is practical for learning anytime and anywhere, effectively enhancing Darmasiswa students’ understanding and appreciation of Balinese culture and arts. Moreover, the innovative combination of traditional and digital learning media makes this pocket book a relevant and engaging tool, contributing to the preservation and promotion of Balinese cultural heritage among international learners.
