Abstract

The house as once a place for its dwellers spiritual journey had been an important topic in architectural discourse. Buildings of various religions and places of worship may be experienced as the works of architecture in many parts of the world. Yet the essence of its existence has a root in the human psyche, the feeling of awe, mystery, and fascination. Such feelings led to a path of journey which embedded in the mind of architects or anonymous builders. Dwellers tend to retain peaceful living with the unseen spirit with various forms of rituals at various significant parts of the house. Yet such practices have been challenged in the present digital urban life. Under such conditions in which technological might and capitalistic financial flow, new forms of powerful being, money, and information, have surfaced. We are on the path to respond wisely. Based on mostly secondary information, this paper addresses many studied cases with challenges ahead of the discipline.
