Abstract

GHRM (Green human Resource Management) is a strategic initiative that integrates environmental considerations into human resource practices. This approach embeds environmental sustainability into various human resources (HR) activities, including eco-friendly recruitment, environmental training programs, fostering a green organizational culture, and engaging employees in sustainability efforts. GHRM, when combined with innovation, acts as a driving force to enhance environmental performance and achieve a competitive edge for firms. This study seeks to assess the current landscape of GHRM in conjunction with innovation, with a focus on identifying research gaps in the existing literature. A synthesis of literature review (SLR) was conducted using Scopus and Web of Science, encompassing the years from 2016 to 2025, which resulted in the identification of 30 existing articles. The literature employs the RBV and AMO frameworks to balance the three foundations of sustainability: social, economic, and environmental. This approach supports sustainable development and ensures that organizations meet their environmental objectives. The integration of AMO and RBV provides the strategic internal capabilities necessary for fostering innovation and managing human resources effectively on a global scale. This study provides a substantial contribution to the field of GHRM and innovation by offering a thorough analysis of the existing literature and suggesting future research directions that support both theoretical progress and practical application in the realms of sustainability and innovation.
