- Abstract
Self-help Groups (SHGs) have emerged as potent instruments for enhancing women’s empowerment in rural India, promoting financial inclusion and socioeconomic advancement. This study investigates the impact of SHGs on women in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, employing structured surveys and interviews with 300 SHG members. The findings demonstrate that SHG participation significantly improves financial literacy, boosts household income, and diminishes reliance on informal credit sources. Furthermore, the participants showed measurable gains in financial literacy and decision-making capacities. Overall, SHG involvement has had considerable positive effects on the socioeconomic conditions of rural women in the district.
