Abstract

Mutual fund industry is an emerging sector in India. People are open towards investment in mutual funds due its diversification and multiple schemes. This paper examines individuals’ experiences and perceptions regarding investments in mutual funds in India through primary data. Investors have demonstrated a strong preference for investments in mutual funds. The poll indicated that mutual fund investors have a thorough comprehension of current market trends and news via various social networking platforms. The market sentiment plays a pivotal role in framing the investment decision. They take timely decisions and experience good returns on their investments with proper disclosure of risks involved in multiple schemes. However, there still uprises a need of fund manager or Portfolio Management Services (PMS) to effectively manage the funds for individual investors. At the same time only a small section of people is open to mutual funds investment due to lack of proper awareness and still prefer traditional methods of investment.

The survey infers that investors are increasingly investing in mutual funds and are getting good and consistent returns. They are aware of the market dynamics and trends.
