Abstract

The transient nature of urban settings is continuously linking up the remoteness of lives and unfortunately, there is no limit to this fact as such technologies as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Augmented Reality (AR) will be significantly combined for ensuring interactions, governance, and prediction in smart cities. In this article, we present a first-of-its-kind Smart City Oriented Engagement Platform (SCOEP), which uses collaborative-AI systems, IoT real-time data, and AR-oriented participatory planning aimed toward revolutionizing urban ecosystems. In contrast to isolated use cases examined in previous studies, our work highlights a holistic, scalable, and adaptable framework that provides a cohesive digital ecosystem interlinking citizens, policymakers, and urban services. It also utilises AI-powered predictive analytics to offer more security, reduce generalisation, and realise real-time decisions, combining XAI methodologies with privacy-preserving IoT networks. Moreover, the infusion of AI-augmented digital twins offers dynamic modeling for better urban design and infrastructure planning. This research helps to develop a future-oriented model for smart cities that embraces citizen involvement, sustainable development, and intelligent city evolution through responsive support to ethical issues, regional relevance, and evidence-based regulation and policy-making.
