- Abstract
Through the metaphorical expression of “What is a child”, this paper probes into teacher candidates’ innermost views on children. The research finds that the teacher candidates’ views on children mainly focus on three aspects: children are “little people”, children have “blank” attributes, and children have thriving vitality. Through the in-depth analysis of these metaphors, this study reveals that the performance of teacher candidates’ views on children is not consistent, and there may be a reality of conflict of positions to a certain extent. At the same time, most teacher candidates emphasize the importance of children’s freedom; It shows the basic reality of the coexistence of the diversity and unity of the teacher candidates’ views on children. In the future, we should carry out targeted education on children’s outlook on teachers with different positions.
